WINTER INITIATIVE: EXTRA ACUTE GP APPOINTMENTS

Kilnacourt Surgery is participating in the HSE Winter initiative. We are offering a limited number of extra rapid- access appointments for acute illness, especially respiratory infections (coughs. colds, sore throats, sinus/ ear infections, chest symptoms).
*Clinics running from the 8th of December until 15th of February*
MONDAYS: 5PM-6PM
FRIDAYS: 5PM-6PM
KEY POINTS FOR PATIENTS:

ONE ISSUE ONLY: These appointment's cover one new acute problem so we can see as many unwell patients as possible.

NO CHOICE OF DOCTOR: You will be seen by the next available GP.

ANTIBIOTICS ARE NOT OFTEN NEEDED: Most respiratory infections are viral.
SELF CARE ADVICE:

Rest, fluids, paracetamol/ibuprofen if needed.

Ask your pharmacist for symptom relief options.
-
Maintain good hand hygiene and cough etiquette.

INFORMATION:
Usual recovery times:
-Ear infection: 3-7 days
-Sore Throat: up to 7 days
-Common Cold: up to 14 days
-Sinusitis: 14-21 days
-Cough/ bronchitis: up to 21 days

WHEN TO SEEK URGENT CARE:

Call Middoc, 1850 302 702, Ambulance Service 999/112 or go to A&E if symptoms are much worse than expected, or if you notice signs of possible sepsis ( rash not fading under pressure, fast breathing, mottled skin, extreme drowsiness, no urine for 12 hours, severe deterioration).

Children under 5: Repeated vomiting or poor feeding.

Children under 3 months: Any fever > 38°C needs urgent review.
