Our team are highly trained in many areas and are happy to look after your general health and more specific requirements. We are dedicated to listening to you, discussing your physical and mental concerns in an honest and open fashion. We will provide you with up to date, evidence-based medical advice to make informed choices when it comes to managing your health.
The practice is also a training practice for specialist trainees in general practice from the Irish College of General Practitioners training scheme. These trainees are qualified experienced doctors and are undertaking further experience and training in general practice. They remain in the practice from periods of 6 months to 1 year.
Meet Our Doctors
Dr Andrew Lavin
Dr Lavin graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2005. He undertook his GP training at the Donegal Specialist Training Scheme and become a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners in 2011. Dr Lavin is a partner at Kilnacourt Surgery. He has been involved in Medical Teaching for a number of years and was appointed as a G.P Trainer in 2021.
He is enjoys all aspects if General Practice and has a special interest in Children and family health, care of the elderly and minor surgical procedures.
Dr Sean Montague
Dr Montague graduated from Trinity College in 1994, and undertook his GP training in Scotland. He has worked in general practice for many years. Alongside his clinical work, he has a stong interest in GP education, quality improvement and the development of Primary care.
He has previously worked as a GP Trainign Scheme Director and CME Tutor and is currently Clinical Director of the ICGP IMG Rural GP Programme.
His Clinical interests include Chronic Disease Management, Preventative Medicine and providing practical, patient-centred general practice.
Dr Isabelle Thompson
Dr Thompson completed her medical degree in the UK, graduating from University of Southampton in 2010. She completed her GP training in England, becoming a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2015. She moved to Ireland in 2018 and became a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners the same year. Dr Thompson joined the Kilnacourt surgery team July 2023 and is now a partner of the practice along side Dr Lavin and Dr Montague.
Her areas of special interest are Paediatrics and Womens' Health (including Implanon /Mirena insertion and removal).
Dr Arshad Maqbool
Dr Maqbool graduated from the University of Health Sciences, Lahore Pakistan in 2014. He subsequently completed postgraduate medical training and worked in primary care in Dubai and Abu Dhabi before moving to Ireland in 2022.
After gaining hospital experience as a Medical Registrar, including in Emergency Medidine, Dr Maqbool joined the IMG rural GP Programme in 2023 and completed his training in 2025. He joined Kilnacourt in July 2026.
His additional professional interests include Weight Management, cae of the elderly and Dermatology. Dr Maqbool is committed to providing compassionate, evidece- based and patient centre care, with a particular emphasis on preventative health, listening to patients and developing personalised care plans that support long term health and wellbeing.
Dr Sherin Varghese
Dr Varghese graduated from University of Oradea, Romania in 2018. She has worked as a Junior Doctor in numerous specialities including Acute Medicine, Geriatrics, Haematology, Gastroenterology + Rehab Medicine prior to commencing her GP training withing the Midlands scheme. She is in her final year of her GP training.
She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and managing a wide range of acute and Chronic health conditions.
Our Nurses
Our Practice Nurses have extensive experience in all Nursing Duties.
